Agentic — when AI stops answering and starts acting
For its first years, AI mostly answered: you asked, it replied. Agentic AI is the next shape — a model that doesn’t just talk, it acts. It plans, chooses and uses tools, takes multi-step action toward a goal, checks its own work, and keeps going with real autonomy.
The team nicknames it the 龙虾 (lobster) — a creature with a hard shell and, crucially, claws that grasp. An agentic AI isn’t a smarter chatbot; it’s a system with hands.
Why this matters for a synthesizer. As of 2026, agents are maturing fast (the Claude 5 family — Fable 5 and beyond — put real capability behind them). Agents are best at work that is well-defined and scoreable: the specialized, “dig deep in one direction” tasks. As they take that work over, the human skill that rises in value is exactly the one this course trains — synthesis: choosing what matters, weaving fragments from many sources into a coherent whole, and making the judgment calls a machine can’t score.
The stronger the agent, the scarcer — and more valuable — the synthesizer.
